Since moving to a new computer, I have been unable to search my Western Digital external hard drives. Looking in Options > Indexes > NTFS, I find them both listed as removable drives. When I select either of them in the list, I find that "Include in database" is unchecked. So I check it for both removable drives and hit OK. So that should do it, right? But it doesn't. When I reopen Options > Indexes > NTFS, the removable drives have reverted to being unchecked. The setting "Include in database" is not remembered.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions. What's going on?
