Are there sometimes when Everything doesn't automatically update a Date Modified timestamp on a file, or is somehow prevented from doing so?
I just opened a .txt file from an Everything results list, made an edit, saved the file, then returned to the Everything results list. The Date Modified timestamp had been updated.
But I had a different experience with another file I was trying to monitor in Everything. It was a database file in Microsoft Access format, in a Dropbox folder. There is some kind of lock file associated with it when it's open, I think it has an .ldb extension. Anyway, when I modified this database, Everything did not update the Date Modified timestamp accordingly. However, when I right-clicked on the file in Everything and brought up the Properties dialog, the Properties dialog did show the correct new timestamp. So did Windows File Explorer.
So I don't know if it's a Dropbox thing, a "locked file" thing, or an Access thing, but Everything didn't update the Date Modified when the file was modified, even though Everything seems to update this timestamp in most cases.
